Long-term transpiration trends in boreal forests

Project status: Active

Project span: 2016-today

Project location: Krycklan Catchment Study, Vindeln, Sweden

Responsible contact: Jose Gutierrez Lopez (jose.lopez@slu.se)

Summary
The objective of this project is to understand how tree-level transpiration in mature mixed boreal forests is affected by environmental variables. We use both most common sap flow methods (heat pulse and heat dissipation), and we monitor three dominant species typical of these ecosystems: Scots pine, Norway spruce and Silver birch.

We use the results of our project for various purposes. For example, we have built predictive models of tree-level transpiration, combining observed measurements, and the long-term environmental record available at our sites.
